Review:
We’ve had too many series choices this week! Time to end on a single choice. Metal Gear Solid 3 is the chronological starting point to the whole Metal Gear series. And just like the other games in the series, your goal is to not be spotted and outwit enemies with clever stealth mechanics. Adapting the near future ideas from the other MGS games into a 1960’s setting and uniquely subverting them. Having a more lighthearted tone, feeling more like a spy movie then a modern day thriller film. Featuring a very innovative injury system that helped train me to become better at being stealthy and care for the main character. Considering I was learning about the Cold War and the Cubin Missile Crisis the same time I was playing this game, maybe I have some bias. But that didn’t stop me from liking the games awesome visuals, great (If not occasionally hammy) voice acting, and epic musical score. Unlike most military themed games, MGS3 focuses on the triumphs of a single solider, teaching us when it’s the best time to be a soldier, or to be a man.
